Job Description:

Central City Concern (CCC) helps people to end or avoid homelessness and build healthy, housed, resilient and engaged lives. CCC's approach addresses both the systemic causes of homelessness and the individual factors that can reinforce it. We help our clients overcome barriers such as lack of affordable housing, health care and living-wage jobs, systemic racism, mental health challenges, chronic health conditions, substance use disorders, and time spent in the justice system. Everything we do rests on our foundational belief in the restorative power of human connection and dignity.

The Program:
Pre-Treatment is an innovative peer-led and trauma-informed Community Healing Center that fosters holistic recovery for individuals waiting for access to behavioral health treatment, and/or working to overcome barriers to readiness for treatment. The program is a two year pilot with the intended goal to build trust, connection and collaboration, and increase emotional resiliency before a client engages in behavioral health treatment. Services may include:
Rapport building
Screening for social determinants of health needs and connecting participants to resources
Connecting participants to a physical health provider
Skills coaching, mindfulness, and stress management
Employment support
Groups dedicated to sober living and healing
Psychoeducation and orientation

The Team:
The Pre-Treatment Team will be made up of five (5) dedicated full-time employees, including:
Two (2) Peer Support Specialists
Two (2) SUDS Counselors
One (1) Peer Supervisor

This Team will be responsible for implementing this new program within Old Town Recovery Center (OTRC) and Blackburn Center. The Team will work together to build client readiness and motivation for behavioral health treatment though crisis management, substance misuse and mental health education, group therapy, and connection to affordable housing, employment, and educational opportunities. They are also responsible for actively leading program development and identifying opportunities for improvement, including but not limited to: peer-led healing and recovery groups, routine events through the year, and more.

Job Details:
The Peer Support Specialist will provide recovery-oriented services to individuals who have self-identified as desiring peer support, community integration and recovery-based relationships.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.

Work as a member of the Pre-Treatment team to deliver comprehensive, client centered, and trauma informed integrated services.
Exemplify recovery principles in order to show by example that recovery is possible and attainable. Provide high quality peer support; share their own recovery story as appropriate.
Staff the Blackburn Center and Old Town Recovery Center when open to clients to offer support and consistency in day-to-day operation of the program.
Monitor for disruptive behaviors, set boundaries and engage positively with clients and model recovery-based relationships, supporting staff and client safety in CCC spaces.
Work with clients on specific objectives in conjunction with the client's case manager and/or counselor.
Work with Peer Supervisor to develop and support new and ongoing programming including but not limited to: peer-led healing and recovery groups, routine events throughout the year.
Attend and positively participate in required team, agency, and interdisciplinary meetings and regular supervision.
Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with clients, staff, and other community partners.
Identify and facilitate clients' access to community resources.
Work to increase individual peer competencies and CCC peer services team cohesion.
Ensure timely completion of all required paperwork, maintain client records.
Work to increase level of cultural sensitivity, awareness and competency regarding person centered and peer delivered services

Requirements:

PSS I Requires: Certified Recovery Mentor or Peer Support Specialist.
PSS II Requires: Certified Recovery Mentor or Peer Support Specialist, and a minimum of 1 year experience working as a certified Peer Support Specialist.
Must be registered with Traditional Health Workers Registry prior to start date.
Must meet CCC privileging requirements as required by FTCA.
Must have CPR training and certification.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, TB test, and background check. This includes clearance by the DHS Background Check Unit.
The OAR prohibits A&D program staff from having within the previous 3 years a DUI conviction or diversion, a felony conviction, or a conviction under the Uniform Controlled Substances Act.
If using a vehicle for agency use, must possess a current driver's license, access to a vehicle, qualify as an Acceptable Driver as designated in Central City Concern's Fleet Safety policy. Must pass an initial drivers training within 60 days of being an approved driver and continued recertification training. Must maintain vehicle insurance coverage of a minimum of $100,000/$300,000 personal auto liability coverage.
Must have current CPR certification prior to start.
