In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to become a proficient delivery driver, playing a crucial part in our commitment to serve our customers effectively. Our trainees receive comprehensive, hands-on training aimed at providing an understanding of our products, customer service strategies, and delivery protocols. As a pivotal member of our logistics team, you will prepare to handle routes efficiently while maintaining Sysco's high standards of service and safety. Undergo training in handling, loading, and unloading products safely and efficiently. Learn to conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure proper working condition. Acquire knowledge of Sysco's service standards and product inventory to better answer customer queries. Assist in maintaining accurate records such as logs of vehicle maintenance, inventory delivery, and journey times. Practice proper handling and transportation of food products to adhere to safety and hygiene standards. Participate in team meetings and contribute to team performance goals. Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to operate delivery vehicles Strong organizational skills to manage documentation and inventory Good physical condition to handle merchandise and supply movements Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety guidelines Excellent navigation skills and knowledge of local routes Strong communication skills for effective customer interactions Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Valid driver’s license Must meet the company’s minimum insurance standards Ability to pass a Department of Transportation physical exam preferred CDL or willingness to obtain a CDL during training period
