Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A specialized nursing role is available in a newly opening Progressive Care Unit (PCU) located in Cornelius, NC. This position involves providing comprehensive care to adult patients with complex medical conditions, including chronic heart failure, COPD, GI bleeds, sepsis, and patients requiring dialysis and various drips. The PCU is a 12-bed unit set to open in February 2026, starting at 50% capacity and expanding over time. This contract role offers an opportunity to work with an experienced team using EPIC electronic medical records in a facility that emphasizes autonomy and professional growth. Key Responsibilities: Manage care for adult PCU patients including monitoring cardiac rhythms, titrating drips such as Cardizem, amiodarone, nitro, heparin, insulin, and managing insulin drips with Endotool Perform IV starts, wound care including vacs and drains, central line maintenance, NG tube insertion, tube feeding, and PCA/kangaroo pumps Draw blood samples (phlebotomy not supported on unit) Collaborate with physicians and multi-disciplinary teams including hospitalists, intensivists, respiratory therapists, and anesthesia providers Float to related units and facilities within the region as needed, maintaining a 1:4 patient ratio Utilize EPIC EMR for charting and documentation Qualifications / Desired Experience: Minimum of 2 years PCU experience required; first-time travelers accepted with 5 years PCU experience Current RN license, BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications Comfort with nursing skills listed above and cardiac monitoring EPIC experience is mandatory Willingness to learn vent management and Precedex drips on-site Location Insights: Cornelius, NC, is a vibrant community near Lake Norman offering a blend of scenic beauty and growing urban amenities.
