General Job Responsibilities: Provide expert care for patients with injuries and disorders affecting bones, joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves. Conduct a wide range of orthopedic surgeries, including fracture repair, joint replacement, arthroscopy and soft tissue repair. Provide emergency care for traumatic injuries requiring immediate surgical intervention. Manage conditions through non-invasive techniques, such as medication or physical therapy, when appropriate. Provide patient education about conditions, treatment options and post-care management strategies. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans. Maintain accurate and thorough medical records. Skills: Proficient in performing a variety of both minimally invasive and complex orthopedic procedures. Ability to assess and diagnose musculoskeletal issues accurately and develop appropriate treatment plans. Capability to make quick, informed decisions during surgery and in emergency situations. Strong communication skills to explain complex medical information to patients. Excellent manual dexterity and precision. Flexibility to adapt to new work environments and different medical teams. Minimum Education Requirements: Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school. Residency training program in orthopedic surgery accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). License & Certifications: Board certification in orthopedic surgery from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS) or the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery (AOBOS). Active and unrestricted medical license in Oregon. Experience: While specific requirements may vary, most locum orthopedic surgeon positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience providing care in a clinical setting.
