Sigma Healthcare team is currently looking for Clinical Laboratory Assistant to work for our facility in The Dalles,OR.

Summary:

Under general supervision, the Clinical Laboratory Assistant (CLA) I is responsible for processing specimens for testing and sending out, running automated equipment, plating cultures, and performs testing procedures as defined by State and Federal regulations. -

In addition, the CLA I performs the duties of a phlebotomist and is responsible for receiving orders, entering registrations and test orders into the Laboratory computer system, collecting specimens, assuring proper billing, filling out test request forms, when required, and providing appropriate customer information as needed. -

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent and basic reading, writing and communications skills.

Licensure/Certification:

Current BLS certification.

Certification showing completion of hospital-based phlebotomy course preferred.

Experience:

Six months phlebotomy experience and one year experience in healthcare related field preferred. Successful completion of a hospital based phlebotomy course to include clinical or - hospital experience with phlebotomy functions preferred.

Experience with drug screen specimen collection and basic specimen selection, handling, and storage activities, preferred.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

Ability to determine/resolve procedural issues when current actions fall outside of departmental protocol.

Knowledge and proficiency in computers including Microsoft Office, email, internet/intranet

Ability to use independent decision-making and problem resolution skills.

Knowledge of phlebotomy functions and processes.

Basic medical terminology, preferred
