Job Description $18 an hour for un-certified Medical Assistants
who have completed training and are pending testing.$21 an hour for
Certified Medical Assistants & $1,000 Sign-On bonus! POSITION
DESCRIPTION Provide direct patient care and support to the assigned
PCPCH team. General duties include patient intake and processing,
assisting providers with treatments and procedures, patient
instruction and patient education. Facilitate patient triage as a
communication liaison between patient, medical provider and
licensed nurse. Additional duties include quality control checks,
performance improvement, supply stocking, equipment sterilization,
patient records management, and patient scheduling. JOB-SPECIFIC
FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS · Embrace the philosophy,
mission, and values of OCH. · Process patients for their visit and
record initial patient data including; vital signs, current
complaints, general health status, and specific patient concerns.
Provide unusual information to the provider for review. · Assist
the provider during patient exams as requested and required. ·
Assist the provider with treatments and procedures including
preparation of patient and equipment and post-treatment clean up. ·
Provide basic information about treatments and procedures to
patients prior to treatment. · Provide basic patient education and
information about follow-up care at the conclusion of patient
visits. · Handle patient communication relating to: prescription
renewals; current illnesses; chronic conditions; health-related
information and education. · Obtain information from outside
agencies related to test orders, appointment times, etc. · Respond
to telephone calls and EMR messages according to established
standards and time frames. · Document relevant patient information
and actions accurately, timely and completely in EHR system and
participate in systems/EHR enhancement focused on improving access,
quality care, and care team efficiency. Comply with Meaningful Use
and PCPCH programs in use of the EHR system. · Safeguard, preserve,
and maintain confidential patient, employee and business
information in compliance with HIPAA and Privacy laws · Work as a
team member with other health care team members providing direct
and indirect support of all clinical appointments on a daily basis.
· Communicate with PCPCH Team Members to facilitate continuity of
care for all patients. · Perform tasks of "nursing" visits, as
directed by licensed medical provider. · Assist in patient triage
by facilitating communication between medical provider and licensed
nursing staff. · Understand and interface with, as needed,
Referrals and Medication Assistance Programs. · Conduct assigned
quality control checks and other required checks and counts. ·
Operate bio-medical equipment following appropriate function and
operating procedures. Report malfunctions immediately to supervisor
or other team members as appropriate. · Complete all types of
documentation including medical records, logs, and reports as
assigned. · Maintain a clean, neat, safe, organized working
environment. Sanitize where necessary to facilitate infection
control. · Follow all safety and biohazard procedures including
handling and disposing of biohazards material. · Participate in
quality monitoring and performance improvement activities and
workgroups as assigned. · Attend meetings and educational
presentations as needed or required. · Maintain compliance with
applicable laws, regulations and standards. · Perform other duties
as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES · Read, speak,

Strong computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office
applications: Word, Excel, Outlook, Epic, and other systems · Able
to administer PPD Tests · Able to perform EKG's · Able to perform
Tympanograms · Able to conduct Snellen's Exam · Able to perform O2
Sat monitoring and administer Nebulizer Treatments. · Able to read
and interpret PPD results and initiate appropriate referral for
positive results · Able to administer Oral and Injectable
medications · Possess understanding of patient flow through the
health center and its impact on team efficiency · Able to set up
sterile field/procedure. · Competency in INS nursing visit
procedure. · Knowledge of and compliance with HIPAA regulations ·
Knowledge of customer service and workplace safety Preferred ·
Internal locus of control · Expectation to excel and be part of a
high functioning team MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education ·
High school graduate or equivalent. · Graduate of an accredited
Medical Assisting program. · Bilingual English/Spanish.
Experience/licensing/certification · A combination of equivalent
education and work experience · Achieve Medical Assisting
Certification within 6 months from date of hire. · Current CPR
certification · Successful completion of OCH credentialing
requirements. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS · Experience working in a
medical office environment. · Experience working with low income,
multi-ethnic populations.
